A lovely medallion celebrating the achievement of a dancer passing her exams, this sterling silver medal was awarded in 1957. The front is embossed with a ballerina en pointe, and surrounded by a banner and laurel branches.
The banner reads "Ballet Graduation Test, I.D.M.A" which was the International Dancing Masters Association in England. Formed in 1930 by four smaller dance associations (the Universal, English, Yorkshire and Premier), it was itself absorbed in 1967 to make the Dance Teachers Association, which is still active today!
While this medallion has an engraving for the original recipient, there is room to add another name or inscription.
